What's Happening

This fight was a continuation of what was to be a controversial win for Chad Dawson over Bernard Hopkins. Dawson seamlessly tackled Hopkins causing Hopkins' shoulder to be in such a shape he could not continue the fight. Giving Dawson a TKO victory. This was later overturned and the  rematch was held Saturday, April 28th. Though the match started a bit sloppy, the two settled down and boxed. Ultimately the better fighter being the 17 year younger Chad Dawson.

This fight has been said to be one of the best Pay Per View bouts of the recent decade. Many have given Mayweather a hard time as a result of speculation that he has been dodging to fight Manny Pacquiao but there's more of a business wrench in that fight than there is a personal one. So in turn, Mayweather set his eyes on the Super Welterweight Champion, Miguel Cotto on May 5th. approximately one (1) month before Mayweather is sent to trial for supposedly hitting his child's mother. This fight superseded all hype, and Mayweather proved victorious after a tough battle for the title.

One of Boxing's finest, Shane Mosley took on Mexico's best, Undefeated Saul Alvarez (40-0) on May 5th, 2012. After losing to the also undefeated Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley looked to show the world he still had what it takes. Unfortunately, his will was not enough for the much younger, more determined Alvarez.

Quotes from Boxers

"Life is a gamble. You can get hurt, but people die in plane crashes, lose their arms and legs in car accidents; people die every day. Same with fighters: some die, some get hurt, some go on. You just don't let yourself believe it will happen to you."
-Muhammad Ali

"A champion is someone who gets up when he can't."
-Jack Dempsey

"I want to keep fighting because it is the only thing that keeps me out of the hamburger joints. If I don't fight, I'll eat this planet.
-George Foreman

"Boxing was not something I truly enjoyed. Like a lot of things in life, when you put the gloves on, it's better to give than to receive."
-Sugar Ray Leonard

"I was called "Rembrandt" Hope in my boxing days, because I spent so much time on the canvas."
-Bob Hope

"It's less about the physical training, in the end, than it is about the mental preparation: boxing is a chess game. You have to be skilled enough and have trained hard enough to know how many different ways you can counterattack in any situation, at any moment."
-Jimmy Smits
